Il Medioevo europeo
Qualche giorno fa ho accennato ad un libro sul medioevo (L'Alba del Medioevo) per me fondamentale.
Per restare in tema, c'è una mostra che devo trovare il tempo di vedere, a Parma dal 27 settembre al 6 gennaio: Il Medioevo europeo di Jacques Le Goff, uno dei massimi medievalisti.
I pezzi saranno il filo conduttore per un percorso articolato che vuole illustrare un’idea di Europa unita, ma diversa per caratteristiche e consuetudini: a predominare sarà l’Occidente cristiano, ma non mancano opere che richiamano il mondo arabo e quello ebraico. Intenzione dello studioso è rappresentare, oltre al cuore dell’Europa - Francia, Italia, Spagna, Germania - anche le periferie, considerate creative quanto il centro: e la diversità delle culture verrà evocata grazie all’accostamento di oggetti islandesi, slavi, irlandesi, vichinghi.
Trova così compiuta realizzazione la visione storiografica di Le Goff: quella di un Medioevo dalla lunga durata e di un’identità europea nata grazie alla combinazione di diverse componenti etniche e culturali fuse insieme sotto il segno del Cristianesimo.
