Bonfires on the Twelfth Night

If it were possible to observe Friuli Venezia Giulia from a satellite on the Twelfth Night, we would see a multitude of bright points: hundreds of propitiatory bonfires... According to a traditional millenary ritual, they are lit at nightfall between the 5th and 6th January: from the Adriatic coast to the Alpine valleys.

Pare che gli auspici del rito propiziatorio siano stati favorevoli...
